Marseille (13) – “When they come upon us, they don’t come back”: at the Parade, residents organize militia-style patrols against nuisances

According to La Provence , in Marseille (13th), in the Parade Haute district, residents exasperated by nuisances (nitrous oxide, music, waste, fireworks) have been organizing night patrols resembling a militia for some time. They wear a homemade “Sécurité La Parade” armband and intervene in small groups with young people they consider responsible. François* explains: “We are polite, courteous but firm […] seven times out of ten, it goes well.” Luc* relates: “Sometimes we get insulted […] Once, a guy took out a knife.”
The patrols rely on a WhatsApp group where reports and photos of suspicious vehicles are shared, with rapid interventions.
